A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 8, 2018, at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, New Cumberland, with the Rev. Sharron R. Blezard leading the celebration.


LaMar D. L. “Don” Snyder, 90, of Masonic Villages, Elizabethtown, and formerly of New Cumberland, died Friday, November 9, 2018, at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster.

He retired as the owner/operator of the former L. Donald Snyder Insurance, New Cumberland; a WWII and Korean War Navy Veteran; a graduate of Penn State University where he was a member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity of Penn State, and the former Beaver Vocational High School, Beaver Springs; a member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, New Cumberland; a member and past Commander and Finance Officer for American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland; a member of V.F.W. Post 7415, New Cumberland; 40&8 Club; and the New Cumberland Lions. He was an avid Nittany Lion football fan as well as a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies; and a Hummingbird watcher.

Born on July 23, 1928, in Beavertown, he was the son of the late Aaron J. and Mabel J. (Beachel) Snyder.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Julia F. Thompson Snyder; a daughter, Sheri L. Snyder of Dillsburg; a son and his wife, Todd L. and Theresa “Terry” Snyder of Camp Hill; a sister, Dorothea Eisenhauer of Middletown; a sister in law, Virginia Snyder of Camp Hill; grandchildren, Brandon J. Metz and his wife, Dawn Sturgeon of Las Vegas, NV; Chelsea E. Miller of Raritan, NJ, Megan N. Seeger and husband, Justin of New Cumberland, Heather N. Burger and husband, Matthew of Mechanicsburg, Madison A. Snyder of Camp Hill; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date to be announced.
