Lawrence E. Dean

Lawrence E. Dean, 67, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He retired as a 1st Sergeant with the United States Army for more than twenty years of service and then was also a Letter Carrier for more than 10 years with the U.S. Postal Service, New Cumberland. During his service time to his country, Larry’s performance earned him The Bronze Star, Commendation Medal, 6 Good Conduct Medals, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral #3, NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral #3, Army Achievement Medal, Basic Recruiter Badge and two Overseas Service Bars.

He was a member of the VFW Post 7415 and American Legion Post 143, both in New Cumberland and was a collector of antique and commemorative knives. Larry was a survivor of a heart transplant for more than 15 years.

Larry was born in NY, NY to the late Russell and Mona (Guilfoyle) Dean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Deborah Ann Colpetzer and a son Kenneth William Walstrom.

He is survived by his wife of more than 41 years, Millie L. (Ralston) Dean; daughters, Sherry L. Keath and husband Ned of Hershey, Toni Rae Folson of Warrensburg, MO and Lisa J. Anderson of New Cumberland; siblings, Michelle Craig, Penny Hyland and Russell Dean; eight grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, June 23, 2016 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland with the Rev. Timothy L. Hoffman officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to service time in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fairview Twp.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Larry’s memory to the American Cancer Society – Harrisburg, P.O. Box 897 Hershey, PA 17033.
