M. Scott Drummond

April 14, 1950 — July 13, 2022

Michael Scott Drummond, 72, of New Cumberland, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. He was born on April 14, 1950 in Chicago, IL, to the late Angus and Lorraine (Leger) Drummond.

Known by his middle name to most, Scott was a 1968 graduate of Trinity High School, Camp Hill, and would go on to serve his country as a radarman in the U.S. Navy. He would transition to the Reserves while earning a bachelor’s degree in Geology from Florida Atlantic University and beginning a career with the PA Department of Environmental Protection. His career would take him to the financial sector, where he began in brokering; he ultimately transitioned to banking, and after a decades-long career with M&T Bank, Harrisburg, would retire as Senior VP & portfolio manager in 2015. He grew up attending St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, and as a married couple, he and his wife would become parishioners of Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill. Scott was a member of the VFW and American Legion in New Cumberland, and he loved passing time on the golf course. His Polaris RZR side by side was his favorite toy, and you can draw your own conclusions as to how he received the nickname, “Rollover.” He was the consummate host and entertainer, and nothing brought him more joy than having friends and family over to the house, feeding them, and making sure they felt welcome and comfortable – so it’s hardly a surprise that Thanksgiving was Scott’s favorite holiday. Though he was a man of few words, his actions spoke volumes, and his honesty and integrity were traits he displayed at work, at home, and when nobody was watching. His son, Michael, will cherish the lessons, advice and encouragement he received throughout the years, as well as the memories made together, like the impromptu picnic lunch on a particularly difficult school day, and catching a Yellow perch at Pinchot Lake. Without trying, Scott could put a smile on your face and made people laugh. His family will certainly miss his “Scott-isms” and sense of humor. Scott was a man of integrity, and his intentions were always in the right place. His family is hopeful that a heavenly back porch has been prepared for him; a quiet and serene setting to await the arrival of those he leaves behind.

Surviving Scott is his wife of 21 years, Sandra “Sandy” (Donton) Drummond; his son, Michael Scott Drummond Jr. of New Cumberland (girlfriend, Jillian); sisters, Denise Danilowicz and Jill Cardile (husband, Sal), both of New Cumberland; brother, Craig Drummond of Mechanicsburg; nieces and nephews, Zach Danilowicz (Missy), Katelin Sobolewski (Aaron), C. Tyler Drummond (fiancé, Chelsea), Nicole Scott (husband, Jake), Michael P. Drummond, Tyler Donton and Kevin Donton Jr. (fiancé, Brianna); and great grand-nieces and nephews, Piper, Nolan, River and Luna; in-laws, Slim and Sandy Donton; brothers-in-law, Kevin Donton (wife, Karolynn) and Keith Donton; and the best friends you could ask for, Jay and Tonia McKague. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Terri Lynn Drummond.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on at 10:30AM on Monday, July 25, 2022 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. A time of fellowship will take place immediately following mass at the family’s home.

A lover of animals, supporter of veterans, and always wanting the best for others, the family asks you to please make a contribution in Scott’s name to a worthy charity of your choice.
