Margaret G. Derrick

October 6, 1927 — March 12, 2021

Margaret G. Derrick, 93, formerly of both Camp Hill and Etters, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Brookdale Grandon Farms, Hampden Township. Born on October 6, 1927 in Lewistown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Vernon E. and Ruth (Skipper) Bubb.

Margaret, known to family and friends as “Peg,” grew up in Lewistown, PA, graduating from Reedsville High School. She long had aspirations of becoming a teacher, but the Second World War and a lack of resources intervened. Instead, she attended secretarial school at Central Penn College, Summerdale, and thereafter loved working as a secretary and administrator in a variety of fields. She was a fine and graceful bowler, and for years a stalwart member of local leagues. She loved to read and cook; she loved baseball, classical music and time at the beach. Peg was a woman of faith, and she was selflessly devoted to her family. She was a longtime member of Paddletown United Methodist Church. Peg met with grace and courage every challenge life presented in her 93 years. She was deeply loved and will be incredibly missed.

Surviving Peg are her children, Scott S. Derrick (Helena R. Michie) of Houston, TX, Rev. Linda Sue Trout (George E.) of Etters, PA, Harry M. Derrick (Karen L.) of Etters, PA, and David R. Derrick of Mechanicsburg, PA. In addition to her biological parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Roberta Louise Derrick and her much-loved husband, Robert; by the man she called “Dad” and thought of as her actual father, Charles Bubb; by David R. “Pap” Bookwalter; and by her sister, June Rupp. She’s also survived by six cherished grandchildren: Holly and Kelly Trout, Samuel and Jacob Derrick, and Ross and Paul Michie-Derrick.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in Union Cemetery – Duncannon.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Peg’s name to either of the following: Residential Hospice, 100 Sterling Parkway, #110, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, or the National Hemophilia Foundation, ATTN: Development Department, 7 Penn Plaza, Ste. 1204, New York, NY 10001.
