Mary Lou Haas

February 3, 1942 — December 17, 2021

Mary Lou (Tezak) Haas, formerly of Middletown, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 at the age of 79. She was the daughter of the late Anthony J. and Henrietta (Lingg) Tezak, Sr., born on February 3, 1942 in Royalton.

Mary Lou went to Royalton High School, Dauphin County, and she would remain in this area all her life. A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner at Seven Sorrows BVM, Middletown, and raised her family in the church. She enjoyed part-time work, running the mini blind and drapery department at JC Penney’s, Harrisburg, babysitting for friends and family, and selling Avon products. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling – a trip to Nassau and two weeks in Germany were vacations she held dear. If she found some quiet time, you could find her reading her bible, working on crossword puzzles and word searches, or watching NASCAR. A loving and nurturing mother, Mary Lou was a natural when it came to being a grandparent. She was involved in her grandchildren’s lives and endeavors, and she was their number one fan in all aspects of life. She made many friends over the years, but family always came first. She cherished the special bond and time spent with her beloved sister, Louise Geib of Maryland.

Surviving Mary Lou are her sons, George L. Haas, Jr. of Mechanicsburg, Timothy Haas of Steelton, Michael R. Haas (Vanessa) of Etters, and Mark A. Haas of Harrisburg; and six grandchildren, Christopher, Jon-Erik, Timmy Jr., Austin, Dominic, and Chelsea. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, George L. Haas, Sr.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Mary Lou’s final resting place will be alongside her husband in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
