Matthew Joseph Santo

February 7, 1972 — November 21, 2021

Matthew Joseph Santo, 49, of Fairview Township, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. He was the son of Ronald Joseph Santo and the late Mary Lu (McCord) Santo, born on February 7, 1972 in Bradford, PA.

Whatever Matt did, he did it with everything he had. A 1990 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill, he would segue into the IT field, beginning his career as an IBM Customer Engineer. He was eager to learn, and would quickly become proficient in any field he explored. Moving up the ranks as his career evolved, he would wind up at XSi (XS International), Alpharetta, GA, where he was Vice President, Data Center Services. If you asked him what his greatest achievements were, he would point to his family without hesitation. He didn’t come off as an IT nerd (much), and he had lots of talents outside computers; he was a Delaware State Champion in doubles racquetball, an unhinged mountain biker, everyone’s favorite pyromaniac, on a paintball club with his son, and possibly the coolest uncle ever. He was his son and daughter’s biggest supporter, and he loved nothing more than being with his wife and kids. Camping and the outdoors were a big part of his life, and he was known for throwing the biggest holiday parties (with the best fireworks). Matt coached his son in baseball and volunteered when he was in scouts. He was a proud supporter of his daughter in all the various sports and activities she did. He enjoyed competitive shooting, especially with his wife, and he was a board member at West Shore Sportsmen’s Association. Matt and Jen lived in Delaware before moving back to Central PA in 2011. He was a big kid – always. He had to make the biggest bonfire, or start a Nerf battle in the basement, and he always gave the best bear hugs. He will be greatly missed by his friends, co-workers, and loving family.

Surviving Matt is his wife of 18 years, Jen Mattern; children, Nate Santo and Rylee Santo; his father, Ron Santo (Margaret) of Mechanicsburg; sisters, Mary Gruber (Ken) of Enola and Carey Twigg (Mike) of Lemoyne; nieces and nephews, Geoffrey, Katie, Dani, Zach, Marina, Emilee, Naylea and Kimmie; in-laws, Dan and Judy Mattern of Lavelle; and sister, Sher Bechtel of Carlisle. He also leaves behind a cousin, Joan Bailey of Camp Hill; an honorary sister, Tab Zerbe (Chuck) of Newport; aunts, uncles, many more cousins, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:30PM on Monday, November 29, 2021 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Prior to mass, a public viewing will take place from 2-3PM at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland (situated directly across the street from the church).
