Nancy A. (Ruby) Metzel

Nancy A. Metzel, 76, of Newberry Twp., passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. She was the daughter of the late V. Blythe and Viola (Herman) Ruby, born on November 2, 1945 in Harrisburg.

A graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, Nancy would remain in Central PA throughout her life. She would begin her career with Hoffman Ford on Jonestown Rd., Harrisburg, and then transitioned to Freysinger GMC Pontiac on the Carlisle Pike, where she would retire as the office manager. She was a longtime member of Newberrytown Church of God, and her faith was evident each and every day, welcoming and kind to all those around her. Her wardrobe matched her personality, vibrant and bold, and bright colored lipstick was a must. Though she loved people, she was an independent woman all her life. She particularly enjoyed traveling, and any reason to visit the casino sounded like a good idea to Nancy. She loved her grandchildren tremendously, and it was a blessing that she could spend the final years of her life watching them grow, living with her son and daughter-in-law. She shed no ill-will or judgement upon others, and for this reason, and many others, it was impossible to not love Nancy.

Surviving Nancy is her son, Kenny Metzel (wife, Stacy) of Newberry Twp.; grandchildren, Cameron and Kendall Metzel; a sister-in-law, Dorothy “Dot” Ruby; a sister-in-law Susan Fringer; a brother-in-law Jack Metzel; an aunt, Silvia Herman; as well as a cousin, Silvia Herman; numerous nieces and nephews In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Kenneth Metzel; and a brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Rudy.

A memorial service will be held at 5PM on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. A visitation will take place immediately prior, from 4PM until services begin in the funeral home.
