Nancy Jane (Tate) Young

August 15, 1931 — November 20, 2021

Nancy Jane Young, 90, of York, passed away on November 20, 2021. She was the widow of the late Walter C. Young Jr., who passed away in 2007. Born on August 15, 1931, she was the youngest daughter of the late Ivy Linda and William J. Tate of Camp Hill. Along with her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by sisters Marjorie Schleyer, Dorothy Troutman and Ruth Musser.

Nancy was a homemaker, devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Nancy and Walt’s 54-year marriage was an inspiration for their family. She enjoyed knitting, rug-making, reading and gathering with her high school friends, “the Camp Hill girls.” She was an avid sports fan, and was active in her Episcopal church congregation wherever she lived at the time. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school, making Easter eggs, altar guild, serving at “Our Daily Bread,” welcoming new members, and breakfasts with her early service friends.

Surviving Nancy are two daughters, Sandra Mann (husband, John), and Linda Heintzelman (husband, Michael), both of York; three grandchildren, Amy Nemith (husband, Michael), Brooks Heintzelman (wife, Alexis Finc), and Lauren Haines (husband, Jeffrey). Her great-grandchildren, Henry, Marin, Ewan, Max, Malcolm and Dottie, loved and delighted her. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews from her beloved Tate family.

Her friendship, kindness and generosity have been felt by many over the years.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
