Patrick M. Mcclain

January 16, 1949 — December 12, 2015

Patrick M. McClain, 66, of Highland Park, Camp Hill, passed away Friday in his residence.
Pat was an entrepreneur whose skills and interests took him in many different professional directions including mining engineering, restaurant ownership, machined parts manufacturing, and sales. He was a proud Army veteran, an avid reader of mystery novels, and enjoyed many interests from piloting single engine aircraft to boating on the Chesapeake, but had the most passion for cars, motorcycles, good food (especially dessert), fixing or building anything mechanical to improve upon its initial design, and restoring any wounded animal he found to health.
Pat’s greatest love in life was his family, especially his grandchildren with whom he loved spending quality time, including working on projects and target practice. He was a compassionate and generous soul and was always willing to do for others before himself. He knew and practiced what it meant to have a meaningful life and often stressed the importance of having fun in all that you do, even if that meant eating the dessert before the meal arrives.
Pat was predeceased by his father, John R. McClain and his mother Margaret (Endler) McClain, with whom he devoted much love and attention as a primary caregiver for many years. Pat is survived by his two sons, Sean M. McClain and wife, Rebecca of Baldwinsville, NY and Kelly J.R. McClain and wife, Kara of Mechanicsburg; a sister, Michele M. Whapeles and husband Robert of Dillsburg; six grandchildren, Hayden Allison and Margaret, Alexandra, Maxwell, Ryan and Elliott McClain; niece, Autumn Morrison; nephew, Kyle Morrison; and Pat’s closest friends, Clayton Kyler and Patty Lou Gorton with whom he could share his zest for fun.
“To all of those I know and love… Baa!”
In keeping with Pat’s wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to either the American Cancer Society, Harrisburg, P.O. Box 897 Hershey, PA 17033 or to the PA Wounded Warriors, 1117 Country Club Road Camp Hill, PA 17011.
