Paul Nevin Miller

December 9, 1938 — September 27, 2022

Paul Nevin Miller, 83, of Etters, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at UPMC Hospital in Harrisburg. Born on December 9, 1938 in Harrisburg, son of the late Maurice R. and Salome M. (Sultzbaugh) Miller.

Paul graduated from New Cumberland High School in 1958. After school he would go on to serve two years in the U.S. Army. For a short time, he worked with his Dad at L.B. Smith in Lemoyne. He then became a first class diesel mechanic and was employed by Berman Leasing & Trucking in Mechanicsburg, IML Freight in Etters, and retired from the Naval Depot in Mechanicsburg.

Throughout Paul’s life he enjoyed visiting state parks, Penn State football, keeping up with his daughters, spoiling the grandchildren, caring for the yard, and cars. Growing up, Paul attended First Church of God in New Cumberland, participated in several New Cumberland school sports, and was a member of Duke’s Car Club. Paul could talk cars with anyone – and he did. Paul loved meeting up with his classmates and friends from school and helping with the reunions. While enjoying his retirement, you could find him tooling around on his scooter wherever the backroads would take him. Paul devoted much time and love taking care of his wife, Joann, in recent years. They would spend many miles together, driving anywhere they wanted.

Paul was a loving, humble and genuine man. We will miss his funny one-liners, overall sense of humor, his endless “safety first” advice, and all of his caring support. He was one good-lookin’ pretty swell guy who will forever be our superhero.

Surviving Paul is his wife of 57 years Joann Tesno Miller, his two daughters, Lorraine E. Miller of Etters, and Doris Kay McElhenie & husband Jim of New Cumberland; four grandchildren, Emilie Lorraine McElhenie, Mackenzie Doris Miller, Garrett Paul McElhenie and Olivia Leeann McElhenie; two brothers and a sister, Robert Miller & wife Theresa of Indian Trail, NC, Ronald Miller of Carlisle and Peggy Mercurio of Harrisburg; a brother-in-law, Bud Engle of Mechanicsburg; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by two sisters, Sondra Fowler and Winnie Engle.

A public visitation will be held from 4-5PM on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with a memorial service beginning at 5PM in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Paul’s name to the New Cumberland Olde Towne Association, PO Box 531, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
