Paul Owen Steinberg

November 12, 1956 — February 12, 2019

Paul Owen Steinberg, 62, of Camp Hill, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2019, at the home he had lived in most of his life. Beloved only child of the late Leroy Edgar and Elaine (Gallinagh) Steinberg, Paul was born on November 12, 1956 in St. Paul, MN.

Paul was the kind of special person you meet only a few times in life. One can truly say Paul had a kind word or a simple greeting and a smile for everyone he met, every day of his life. Paul worked as a landscaper at Rolling Green Cemetery and most importantly in his Camp Hill neighborhood. Paul mowed and watered lawns in the spring and summer, and raked leaves in the fall. But Paul’s outdoor work doesn’t begin to describe the contribution he made to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Paul was deeply devoted to Grace Lutheran Church. He helped raise money there every year, famously frying and selling each year’s record number of tasty peanuts and cashews during the holidays. Paul volunteered at weekly community meals, helped make quilts that warmed those in need, and cleaned and polished the house of worship he loved so dearly and was the center of his life.

Paul was also very knowledgeable about American history, especially railroads, and enjoyed traveling with his mother and father throughout their lives to the Chesapeake Bay, Gettysburg, and other historic sites. Paul was proud of his German and Irish heritage and enjoyed reading about foreign countries he would never have the opportunity to visit. He was passionate about bowling and competed in the Special Olympics, loved good food, especially local produce and treats at the West Shore Farmers Market, and chatting with vendors there.

Paul is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews on the Gallinagh and Steinberg sides of his family.

Paul will be buried in a private service at Rolling Green Cemetery. A memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Paul’s name to Grace Lutheran Church (gracecamphill.org).
