Peter M. Selan

January 29, 1952 — March 14, 2021

Peter M. Selan, 69, of Lewisberry, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 14, 2021 at his residence. Pete was born on January 29, 1952 in Dunkirk, NY; he was the son of the late Edward and Annie (Kolenc) Selan.

Pete graduated from Warren Area High School (Class of 1970), and immediately went on to Shippensburg State College/University (Class of 1974), where he earned a degree in Urban Planning & Environmental Science. He was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity; he remained active and stayed lifelong friends with many of his brothers, including those from Wright Hall. He was a Water Sewage & Treatment Supervisor for the Borough of Carlisle, and a Township Authority member and consultant for Fairview Township. He was a simple and modest man; he found great enjoyment in yardwork and tending to his property. He was handy and enjoyed tinkering, and he passed this trait on to the next generation. Pete was an outdoorsman and a classic car enthusiast. He was passionate about history, and was remarkably well-versed with his knowledge of WWII. Pete later became the secretary of the National LCI (Landing Craft Infantry), an organization near to his heart, as his Uncle Leo died while protecting his country aboard one of these vessels.

Surviving Peter is his son, Jeffrey M. Selan; his siblings and their spouses, Steve Selan (Debbie) of Russell, Robert Selan (Lisa) of Mechanicsburg, Mary Cosgrove (Thomas) of Elverson, PA, and Jane Lefever (Keith) of Mechanicsburg; nieces and nephews, Sara Selan, Evyn Cosgrove, Chris Cosgrove, and Annie Lefever; and cousins, Christian Selan, Michael Selan and Gabriel Selan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy Lee Selan (decd. 2003); and his best friend and loving neighbor, Dennis M. Braun.
