Rev. Calvin B. Haverstock, Jr.

Rev. Calvin B. Haverstock, Jr., 83, of Hampden Twp. and formerly of New Cumberland and Lemoyne, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 in his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was a retired United Methodist Pastor serving the congregations of St. Paul’s United Methodist, Hagerstown, MD; St. Paul’s United Methodist, Manchester, PA; Memorial United Methodist, Silver Spring, MD; Otterbein United Methodist, York; Colonial Park United Methodist, Harrisburg; Camp Curtain United Methodist, Harrisburg; and Union Deposit United Methodist, Hershey. Pastor Haverstock served as New Cumberland District Superintendent for the eight years prior to his retirement. He is a current member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg.

Pastor was a graduate of Lemoyne High School, Lebanon Valley College, Annville and United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH. His passions include hunting, fishing, and all Penn State athletics.

He was born in Harrisburg to the late Calvin B. and Emma (Snoke) Haverstock, Sr. and is survived by his wife of more than 61 years, Zedna M. (Shaffer) Haverstock; his children, Denise M. Rife and husband Jeffrey of Syracuse, NY and Douglas C. Haverstock and wife Andra of Mechanicsburg; six grandchildren, Daniel and Sarah Rife, and Nicole, Taylor, Hannah and Ian Heverstock; and two great grandchildren, Jarred and Alyssa.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 28, 2015 in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1480 Jerusalem Rd. Mechanicsburg, PA 17050 with the Rev. Troy Howell, Bishop Mark Webb and Rev. Dr. Thomas Salsgiver officiating. A visitation with family will take place immediately following the service in the church’s Family Life Center.
