Richard A. "Dick" Campton

Richard A. “Dick” Campton, 94, of East Pennsboro Twp., Camp Hill, PA, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center, East Pennsboro Twp.

He was born in Shamokin, PA, on November 21, 1926, and is survived by his wife, Marjorie A. (Greenly) Campton and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Dick was the son of the late Gilbert J. and Arlene M. (McElrath) Campton and was also preceded in death by his only brother, Gilbert G. Campton, a Navy WWII veteran lost at sea. Dick was also a U.S. Navy WWII veteran and served in the Pacific Theater aboard the U.S.S. Markab. Following his military service, he graduated from the Western PA Watch Making Institute. Dick continued in the Jewelry and Watchmaking profession until 1951 when he accepted a civil service position at the former Olmstead Air Force Base in Middletown, PA. In 1961, he transferred employment due to base closure to Hill Air Force Base in Clearfield, UT. Dick continued employment at the base until his retirement in 1983 as a Logistics Officer in the Air Munitions Division. In August, 2013, Dick and his wife relocated to Camp Hill, PA.

He was a member of the Perseverance Lodge #21, F. & A.M., Harrisburg, PA; Harrisburg Consistory and Salt Lake City Consistory; El Kalah Shrine of Salt Lake City.

Graveside services will be held privately at the convenience of the family in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children in Salt Lake City, (https://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/salt-lake-city), 1275 E Fairfax Rd, Salt Lake City, UT 84103.
