Robert (Bob) Fissel, 86, of Mechanicsburg, died Saturday, February 17th, 2018, at the Kinkora Phythian Home, Duncannon.
After 31 years of employment, Bob retired from the former American Can Company – Harrisburg. He was a member of American Legion 1001, West Creek Hills Lions Club, and W.O.R.M.S. Bob also volunteered with Meals on Wheels for many years. Bob enjoyed golfing, traveling, boating at Raystown and watching Marcus play sports. A graduate of Susquehanna Township High School, Class of 1950, he played football, basketball and baseball. Born in Penbrook on November 3rd, 1931, he was the son of the late Paul Revere and Mary Jane (Witman) Fissel.
Surviving is Joann, his wife of 58 ½ years; a son, Dale Fissel, wife, Leigh and grandson Marcus of Camp Hill. A brother, Charlie Fissel, and his wife Sara Jane of Camp Hill, and many nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy René, and three brothers and four sisters.
Bob was a member of the former St. John’s UCC in Harrisburg for 50+ years, and a 26-year member of CHPC.
A viewing will be held at the church from 10AM until 11AM, with an 11AM service on Friday, February 23rd, 2018, at Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Myrtle McCall officiating. Burial will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens following a brief post-service luncheon at the church.
