Robert M. Olley

Bob, age 76, died at home on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Shamokin, PA., to Margaret and Melvin Olley. Following graduation from high school, he came to Harrisburg and graduated from Polyclinic Hospital School of Radiologic Technology, later graduating from Harrisburg Area Community College with a degree in business. His 38-year career in radiology included becoming the first Administrative Director of Radiology at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where he remained for 11 years, returning to Polyclinic in the same position, where he retired in 1998 due to ill health.

In his younger years, he was an avid roller skater, and enjoyed fishing and boating at his summer cottage on the Susquehanna River. He was interested in all sports and was a passionate news enthusiast. His entire life was devoted to FAMILY, his wife, children and grandchildren. He led by example throughout his personal and professional life.

He leaves behind a wife, Linda, of Mechanicsburg; a son, Robert and his wife, Julie, of Edgewater, MD; a daughter, Maryanne, of Harrisburg, and 6 grandchildren: Savannah, Mary, Halee, Sarah, Brayden and Brooke. Also living are a brother, Jack, of East Petersburg; and two sisters, Arlene Erdman and Doris Ziemba, both of Shamokin, PA. He also leaves behind cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Bible Baptist Church, Shiremanstown. A visitation will be held prior to services, from 10-11AM at the church.

He experienced long-suffering related to complications from late stage Lyme and many other tick-borne diseases. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either: Bible Baptist Church, 201 W. Main St., Shiremanstown, PA 17011, or to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, # 270, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
