Ronald D. Freedman

August 16, 1948 — January 16, 2022

Ronald D. Freedman, born August 1948, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Sunday January 16, 2022 surrounded by his wife, all his children, sister and dear family friend. Those who were fortunate to know him will fondly remember his effortless sense of humor, generosity, integrity, and infectious smile. He was a true man among men.

Ron was our family's center of gravity, the life of our party; he will be desperately missed by his devoted wife and soulmate of 36 years, Donnamarie H. Freedman and his children; the Honorable Daniel J. Freedman (Stephanie), Dr. Beth E. Freedman, Nicole J. Freedman, Jessica L. Freedman (Ben Miller), Rachelle V. Freedman (Tom Gregg), his beloved granddaughter Kady Grace, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Dane M. Freedman (12/13/2013).

Ron was born in Lebanon, PA on August 16, to the late Ruth C. Freedman and husband. Ron grew up with his siblings Thomas J. Freedman (Diane), Brenda L. Pankake, Dennis R. Freedman (Colleen), and Rosemary C. Sebolt (Gary). He was a graduate of Trinity High School and received an Associate Degree in Engineering from Harrisburg Area Community College. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and proudly served in the PA Army National Guard for six years.

Ron was a natural people person and skilled businessman. He will always be remembered as a successful and trusted real estate broker in Central PA. He and his career-long partner Lou Puliti founded Camp Hill’s RE/MAX Realty Associates office in 1980 and grew it into the premier real estate company it is today. Ron excelled as a leader in sales and recruiting which earned him an induction into the RE/MAX Hall of Fame as well as the RE/MAX International 100% Club. He was also awarded the RE/MAX Broker/Owner of the Year Award and the Eagle Award. He knew the best path for success was to share his experience and knowledge with others through mentoring and advising. He was a staunch advocate for his clients and took joy in helping them reach their goals. Ron forged many great relationships through repeat clients who ultimately became friends. His family and friends often relied on his vast knowledge and expertise when it came time for their own home repairs.

Above all else, Ron cherished his family. He was at his best when surrounded by his loving children. Our memories are filled with large family dinners, vacations to Cancun, camping, game nights and time spent at the cottage in the mountains where he found his ultimate peace and solitude. He delighted in generously sharing these adventures with his extended family and circle of friends. At home, he spent his free time homesteading, caring for his backyard chickens, the family pets, and most recently his devoted dogs Lyla and Greyson. Through his example, he taught us to seek adventure, to never give up, to treat everyone with respect, forgiveness, kindness and above all the importance of God, family, and love of country.

We appreciate that the impact of Ron’s life is far reaching. Out of an abundance of caution, a celebration of life will be held later this spring. A private family burial will be held at Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill. Please continue to remember him and speak his name with a smile on your face.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cpl. Dane Freedman Suicide Awareness Scholarship Fund, c/o Integrity S&T Bank, 3345 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA. 17011.
