Ross J. Smith, 85, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018 in Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.

He was a retired Press Room Supervisor for the Telegraph Press, Harrisburg and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, Harrisburg; and was a fifty plus year member of Harrisburg Lodge #629, F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory and the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Forest #43, Harrisburg. Ross enjoyed watching Florida State football games, Boston Red Sox baseball games, and John Wayne movies.

Ross was born in Harrisburg to the late Jacob and Zella (Hogentogler) Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Richard H. Smith.

He was the widower of both Jean E. (Winters) Smith and Peggy L. (Henry) Smith and is survived by a daughter Renee L. Smith of Harrisburg; and two brothers, Robert E. Smith of Mechanicsburg and Reginald Smith of Las Vegas, NV.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nursing staff of the 8th Floor MICU at Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital for their support and compassionate care.

A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, March 22, 2018 in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Twp. preceded by a Masonic Service at 12:45 pm. There will be no viewing or visitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Ross’s memory to Tree of Life Lutheran Church, 1492 Linglestown Rd. Harrisburg, PA 17110.
