Ruth Mullen Miller

June 6, 1923 — March 13, 2020

Ruth Mullen Miller, 96, of Camp Hill died Friday, March 13, 2020 surrounded by her loving family at her home.

A member of St. Theresa Parish, New Cumberland, Ruth grew up in Quincy, MA and graduated from Quincy High School in 1940. She worked for New England Telephone in the early 1940s. Toward the end of WWII, she met a young Pennsylvania man who was stationed at the nearby Naval Air Station Squantum. Bob Miller was the love of her life. They were married in Quincy and moved to PA to start their family. Ruth was a devoted mother and a talented seamstress. She loved crossword puzzles and other word games, as well as travel, music and dancing. But her favorite pastime was sitting on the screened-in porch while watching the hummingbirds visit the feeder.
Ruth was born June 6, 1923 in Quincy, MA to the late Francis and Mary Jane (Martell) Mullen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Miller; brothers, Joe, Ray, and Franny; and sisters, Claire Cameron, Priscilla Mullen, Eleanor Spolidoro, Teresa MacKenzie, and Rosemary Healy.

She will be forever loved and dearly missed by her children, Janice M. Ragonese (John) of New Cumberland, Nancy Miller of Camp Hill, Robert J. Miller, Jr. (Maryann McElroy) of East Hampton, NY; Kevan Miller (Steve Schaible) of Arlington, VA; a sister, Dotty Mullen of Hanson, MA; grandchildren, Courtney Liddell (Richard Reschoff), Megan Hall (Jim), Katie Liddell (Matt Pfarr), Jennifer Ragonese Daly (Dan), Jonathan Ragonese (Karen Dekker), Phoebe Schaible, Noah Schaible; and twelve great-grandchildren, Fiona, Zane, Andrew, Ruby, Lance, Mayson, Michael, Ava, Olivia, Colin, Jada and Emlyn.

She loved her cousins, many nieces and nephews and close friends who will all miss her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Home Instead Senior Care and to all of the wonderful caregivers that assisted Ruth on a daily basis, especially to her long-time caregivers, Carol, Penny & Alanna. Ruth’s family also thanks Homeland Hospice for their care and guidance during her final days.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Kyle Sahd. Entombment will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill. The family will be holding a celebration of her life at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 270, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9794.
