Scott J. Long

Scott J. Long, 56, of Mechanicsburg, died Tuesday, September 4th, 2018, at his home. The son of James L. and Hazel (Haftel) Long, he was born on May 7, 1962, in Harrisburg.

Scott was a graduate of Cumberland Valley High School, Mechanicsburg, and went on to obtain his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Millersville University. He was employed as a marketing manager with General Insulation Company, Inc., of Camden, NJ. He enjoyed spending time with his kids, often 4-wheeling and golfing together. He was always active, playing in a lunchtime men’s basketball league for many years, playing goalie for Harrisburg Area Water Polo Club (H.A.W.C) since 1981 and helping out with youth soccer.

Surviving are his children, Lauren Renae Long and Thomas Scott Long, both of Mechanicsburg, and their mother, Susan Persa Long, of Enola; his parents, James L. and Hazel (Haftel) Long, of Mechanicsburg; two brothers, Mark K. Long, of Seattle, WA, and Gregory T. (and wife, Candice) Long, of Belle Meade, NJ; and a niece and nephew, Claire and Colin.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 2:30 PM on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, 101 N. 23rd Street, Camp Hill. A funeral service will follow at the church. A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family. After the service, there will be a reception at the church.
