Stephen Patrick Grady

June 18, 1952 — April 19, 2018

Stephen Patrick Grady, 65, of Camp Hill passed away Thursday in a single engine plane crash in Western Pennsylvania.

He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army Reserve. He was a Dentist with Center Street Family Dentistry, Camp Hill. He graduated from York Catholic High School, the University of Notre Dame, and Georgetown University School of Dentistry.

He was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, Camp Hill; West Shore Country Club; past President of Rotary Club of West Shore. He currently served as President of the Notre Dame Club of Harrisburg. He was a football and lacrosse referee.

Steve thrived during his undergraduate years at Notre Dame. The University had a lifelong influence on him. He participated in the Bengal Bouts boxing which raised funds for the Holy Cross Missions in Bangladesh. There he met “Rudy”, of movie fame, who also boxed for Notre Dame. Steve enjoyed touching base with Rudy through the years.

Steve was so passionate about Notre Dame. He watched football and lacrosse games with “high intensity” at home, calling his good friend Jimmy Durkin every 60 seconds during the games. He attended so many of these games at Notre Dame, never letting the long trip get in his way.

One of his dreams was to be a football referee and a lacrosse referee, and he fulfilled that dream over many years.

Steve embraced his time with the Rotary Club of West Shore, serving as president and making many mission trips to the Dominican Republic to provide dental care to the impoverished. He enjoyed spending time with the Temple University Dental School students who participated in these trips.

But, most importantly, Steve loved his family. He doted on his children endlessly. They could talk him into anything and he would wind up giving in. They will miss him more than words can describe.

Steve was born on June 18, 1952 in Washington, D.C. to the late Francis R. “Frank” and Martha W. (Mills) Grady. He was preceded in death by his brother David.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bahret Grady; three children at home, Molly Erin Grady, Ryan David Grady, attending Notre Dame, and Meghan Elizabeth Grady; a brother, Michael Grady (Midge) of Springfield, NJ and sister, Suzanne Grady Walsh (John) of Mahwah, NJ; his mother and father-in-law, Marilyn and Joseph Bahret of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews and sisters and brothers-in- law, all of whom he loved dearly.

Additional visitation will take place from 9:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am Tuesday at Church of the Good Shepherd, 3435 E Trindle Rd, Camp Hill.
