Steven A. Brewer

June 24, 1946 — December 16, 2021

Steven Allen Brewer, 75, of Camp Hill, passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at UPMC West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg. Raised by his mother, the late Vivian (Fitzgerald) Carre, he was born on June 24, 1946 in Brewton, AL.

Steve moved north with his family when he was in middle school; a few years later, his mother and siblings moved back to Alabama, but Steve chose to stay in Central PA to finish his schooling. He graduated from Lower Dauphin High School, Hummelstown, and he would continue his studies at Millersville University before diving into a career of appliance repair work. He spent many years with REMCO, Mechanicsburg, where he performed diagnostics and repaired commercial coolers, HVAC systems, and other large-scale appliances. Steve would also work as a technician at both Whirlpool and Harris TV & Appliance, still doing what he enjoyed. His hobbies mirrored his professional interests, finding any reason to take something apart or troubleshooting a problem. This Trekkie loved computers, whether it was building or fixing them, or just reading about the latest innovations, and Neil Diamond remained his favorite artist throughout the years. A man of strong faith, Steve and his family attended Oakwood Baptist Church, Camp Hill for many years. He also lent his talents during Sunday services, mixing and controlling the audio and hymn selections.

Steven is survived by his children, Scott E. Brewer (Kimberly) of Mechanicsburg, Sara B. Shumberger (David) of Camp Hill, and Sheila B. Sharadin (Jon) of Oxford, PA; grandchildren, Owen, Cassidy, Noah, Abbey, Chance, Rebecca, and Grace; six siblings, Jerry Carre, John Carre, Linda Stewart, Mike Carre, Daniel Carre, and Susan Carre; and many nieces and nephews.

A public service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in his church, Oakwood Baptist Church, 4315 Chestnut Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A visitation with family will take place the hour prior to services in the church. The family expects guests to wear masks for the protection of others and themselves.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Steve’s name to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023, or at www.diabetes.org.
