Susan E. Stone

December 20, 1943 — July 28, 2021

Susan E. (Rudy) Stone, 77, of New Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at home, with family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Bernard G. and Betty L. (Diehl) Rudy, born on December 20, 1943 in Harrisburg.

Sue grew up in Enola, graduating from East Pennsboro High School (1961), and then going on to work for the Commonwealth. After 37 years of employment, she would retire from the Auditor General’s office as an audit assistant. She met her husband, Bill, while working there too; they started in Enola but would relocate to New Cumberland when they became empty-nesters. She and Bill were longtime faithful members of Community United Methodist Church, New Cumberland. Sue was a giving person who cared for others, and she also had a great sense of humor. She couldn’t resist the Community Aide deals, and she loved ordering delivery from Cedar Cliff Pizza, Camp Hill. Sue was an avid reader, but put the books down from 7-8PM during Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy; Everybody Loves Raymond was another reason to turn on the TV. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, keeping her home tidy and gardening. She was a second mother to the neighbor’s flock of chickens, and she loved her pet Society finch, Ray. Being with family is what meant the most to Sue, especially if that time could be spent together at the beach. Her family would take many trips to Fenwick Island, DE, and she had a blast with her sisters when they went to Virginia Beach two years ago. She always maintained a special bond with her sisters, and with her beloved son, Doug.

Surviving Sue is her son, Douglas E. “Freebird” Siders (Lori) of Annville; a brother, David T. Rudy (Maxine) of Mechanicsburg; and three sisters, Laurel M. Rudy, Gretchen L. Beard (Dwight), and Janna E. Colechio (Michael), all of Enola; nieces and nephews, Liz, Tim, Sara, Jennifer, Pam and Rahn; and great-nephew and nieces, Kyle, Taylor and Adalyn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William T. “Bill” Stone; and a brother, Boyd G. Rudy.

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. A viewing will take place one hour prior to services in the funeral home. Immediately following the service, a procession will travel to Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
