Susan M. (Rich) Howell, 64, of Highspire, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Derry Twp.

She was an Executive Assistant with Highmark, Camp Hill and previously served as Executive Assistant to the VP of Transportation with Gannett-Fleming, Camp Hill. Additionally, Susan was active with Toastmasters where she served as treasurer and Area 28 Governor at the District Level; President, Secretary and Treasurer at the Club Level; and received awards including the Competent Toastmaster Award (completing ten manual speeches) and the Advanced Bronze Toastmaster Award (completing additional manual speeches). She was a member of the Dauphin County Legal Secretaries Association serving as President, Vice President and Treasurer and served on various committees; PA Legal Secretaries Association where she served as Treasurer; and the National Association of Legal Secretaries where she was a liason.

Susan was born in Moorhead, MN to the late Richard and Anna (Carey) Rich. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step mother Catherine “Kay” (Perry) Rich; a brother David E. Rich; and a brother in law Michael Macekura.

She is survived by her loving husband of more than 43 years, Ronald E. Howell; two sons, Jason E. and wife Danielle of Las Vegas, NV and Brian E. and wife Charity of Sandy Ridge, PA; a sister Diane E. Macekura of Marlton, NJ; sister in law Linda A. Sage of Marco Island, FL; three grandchildren, Michael, Madelinn and Nathaniel Howell; and three step grandchildren, Brian Knepper, Jr., Robert Knepper and Taylor Knepper.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, January 20, 2020 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Viewing will be from 2-4 pm Sunday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Susan’s memory to either the Melanoma Research Alliance, 730 15th Street, NW
Washington, DC 20005 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
