Thomas M. Broniak

July 16, 1948 — January 6, 2020

Thomas Mark Broniak, 71, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020 at UPMC Pinnacle West Shore.

Born and raised in Carnegie, PA, Tom attended Point Park University and graduated with a degree in accounting. He worked for the federal government at both the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg, and the New Cumberland Army Depot, and retired as Chief of Distribution Management. Tom was hooked on golf. If he wasn’t playing, he was watching it on TV. This was especially convenient, considering he lived across from a golf course for most of his adult life. He was a one-of-a-kind storyteller, with an uncanny ability to stretch a five-second story into a twenty-minute dissertation. He was always the “on-call” parent, driving his kids (and their friends) home from their late night/early morning ventures. He loved his kids, and took pride in coaching them throughout their youth in the Hampden Township Youth Soccer Association.

His family will miss him dearly, especially his best friend and wife, Barbara L. (Speizer) Broniak. This coming April would have marked their 50th wedding anniversary. In addition to Barb, he is survived by his four children, Brian Broniak (wife, Susan) of Blacksburg, VA; Kevin Broniak (wife, Tiffany) of Enola, PA; Todd Broniak of Enola, PA; and Beth Caruthers (husband, Derrick) of Clayton, DE; and four grandchildren, Devlin, Caden, Piper and Finley. Tom was preceded in death by his mother, Anna M. Broniak.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-5PM on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at the Center Street Grille, Enola, PA. At 2:30PM, a time of sharing will take place – the family will speak first, and then the floor will be opened to friends and guests.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Tom’s name to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital – Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
