Thomas M. “Yogi” Lanphier, 71, of Mechanicsburg, and formerly of New Cumberland, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at home. Son of the late Robert Dowhower Sr. and Margaret (Golembiewski) Dowhower, he was born on June 29, 1949 in Lebanon.

Yogi was a graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School (Class of 1967); he went on to earn a degree in telecommunications from DeVry University, Chicago. Between his educational endeavors, he served his country in the United States Army. He put his degree to use, working at AT&T, Harrisburg as a Switching Equipment Technician (SET), retiring after 31 years of employment. Not one to stay put for long, he would go on to work for another twelve years at Susquehanna Defense Logistics Agency, New Cumberland. He retired from DLA in 2017, giving him more time to do what he loved – fishing. Yogi was an avid fisherman all his life; enjoying freshwater the most, there weren’t many ponds, lakes or streams in Central PA that he missed out on casting his rod. He was a Philly sports fan (especially the Eagles and Phillies), and rooted for Penn State football all his life. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving Tom is his wife of 13 years, Insook Lanphier; children, Tiffany Ann Lanphier-Sholansky (Michael Scott) of Lebanon, Michael Thomas Lanphier (Cynthia Ann) of Waxhaw, NC, John Joseph Lanphier (Kera Ashley) of Harrisburg, and In Chang Choi of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Hayley Sholansky, Tristan Sholansky, Ashlyn Lanphier, Reilly Tangye, Zoe Lanphier and Kenzie Lanphier; brothers, Nicholas Gravino, Joseph Lanphier, David Dowhower and Robert Dowhower Jr.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Gravino.
