Alice M. Sheller

d. Jun 25, 2026

Mechanicsburg

It is with great sadness that we share that our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Alice M. Sheller, 86, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Alice was the daughter of Emil and Hildegard Peshek. She graduated from Holy Ghost High School, where she was elected president of her senior class.

She shared 58 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Leroy. Alice and Leroy began married life in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where they lived for many years before relocating to Mechanicsburg. Their life together was rooted in faith, love, and family, creating countless memories that will be cherished for generations.

Alice’s heart was centered on her children and creating meaningful experiences for those she loved throughout her life. As a loyal mother, companion, and friend, she was known for her warm laugh and embracing life's simple moments. She never forgot a birthday, often brightening her loved ones' days with a phone call, a thoughtful card, or an unexpected gift. She filled her home with music and spent many days knitting, crocheting, and even painting, making all holidays memorable, especially Christmas with her handmade ornaments.

Alice had a long career in secretarial work, where she was always dependable, meticulous, and dedicated in her responsibilities. She began her career before her marriage, devoted herself to raising her family, and later returned to her profession, serving the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in state press and communications until her retirement.

She also enjoyed spending time with friends in the St. Joseph Catholic Church Leisure Club and looked forward to their trips and activities. Her Catholic faith was a constant source of strength, hope, and peace throughout her life. Her family finds comfort knowing she has been welcomed into the arms of Christ and reunited with those who went before her.

Alice is survived by her beloved husband, Leroy; her children, Melinda, Michael, Leslie, and Jeffrey; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her brother, Donald; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her three siblings.

Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Alice’s Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 400 E. Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., immediately preceding the Mass.

Interment will take place at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery in Pittsburgh. Those wishing to attend the interment may contact the family for additional details.

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more.” — Revelation 21:4

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Alice's name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
