Allen E. Dolsky

July 20, 1953 — September 4, 2023

New Cumberland, PA

Allen Edward Dolsky, 70, of New Cumberland, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023 at his residence. He was the son of the late Edward A. and Madeline (McDowell) Dolsky, born on July 20, 1953 in Uniontown.

A graduate of Red Land High School (Class of 1971), Allen would go on to become a master electrician, working for multiple companies doing electrical system design and install primarily in industrial settings. He was a long-time member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 143.

Allen’s family moved to Fairview Park, New Cumberland in 1957 and it was here that he grew up and lived his life. The neighborhood will miss him deeply, as he was a loyal friend to everyone living there. He was a great “fix-it” handyman, always willing to help and answer questions. He was the last of the original families in the neighborhood.

Allen was also a devoted son and was the primary caregiver for his mother for several decades at the end of her life. He put her wellbeing above his own and gave her loving care.  He shared her religious faith, took her to weekly bingo where she seemingly never lost, and drove them both to St. Theresa Catholic Church in New Cumberland.

His hobbies and interests were many. He was an avid racing fan, from dirt track to Formula One.  He not only watched cars, he loved to tinker with them and rebuilt several over the years. He followed the Philadelphia Phillies and Flyers, and Hershey Bears. He loved music, specifically rock from any generation, and was a Sci-Fi movie buff.

Surviving Allen is a niece, Dr. Sarah Notter (Jason Brown) of St. Petersburg, FL; a great nephew, Tilmann Brown; and his former brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Notter (Barbara) of Linfield. Allen is also survived by Doug Dodson (Jodie), who grew up with him in New Cumberland and remained his best friend throughout life. In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by his two sisters, Dr. Mary Frances Dolsky Notter and Margaret Dolsky.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on September 23, 2023 at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. A private interment in St. John Cantius Cemetery, Windber will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Allen’s name to the charity of your choice.
