AnaMaria Salom Restrepo, 83, of Etters, PA, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Saint Mary’s Rehab Center in Cherry Hill, NJ. Daughter of the late Jose and Alicia (Suarez) Salom, she was born on August 3, 1942, in Cartagena, Colombia.
Raised Catholic in nearby Barranquilla, she learned the importance of family throughout childhood, often spending time with her siblings. An enthusiast of the arts, she found joy in Latin dances like cumbia, singing with her church choir, and painting in her free time. She earned a bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Atlántico in Barranquilla, where she also excelled as a member of the university's championship table tennis team. Through table tennis and mutual family connections, she would meet her future husband, Jairo. Following graduation, and marriage in 1967, she immediately moved to the United States to join her husband. They started out in Harrisburg, PA, before settling in their newly built home in Etters, PA in 1971.
Always embodying the teachings of the Bible, AnaMaria consistently put others ahead of herself. Following her career as an architect with Gannett Fleming, she devoted herself to her family and her home. As a stay-at-home mother, she raised her three boys with discipline while always showing compassion and nurturing their Catholic faith. She enjoyed the company of children, often volunteering at St. Theresa Catholic School, New Cumberland, and later in life, spending time with her grandchildren. Devoted to her family, she could often be found traveling long distances to support her children's activities, especially travel soccer, all while keeping a loving and well-run home. As her children grew, she returned to her career in architecture, working for Gannett Fleming and later Stanley Womack Associates, where she took particular pride in restoring historic buildings and facilities.
Music remained an important part of her life as a longtime member of the adult choir at Saint Theresa Church. Always eager to try new things, she took up guitar lessons and learned polka dancing. Above all, family was at the center of everything she did. She loved hosting gatherings at her home in Etters, and made it a point to visit her sisters, children, grandchildren, and extended family, delighting them with stories of her childhood in Colombia. Her love of dancing never faded, and even during her final years at Saint Mary's Rehab Center, you could find her dancing in the activity room.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jairo D. Restrepo; a son, Edward S. Restrepo; and siblings, Miriam Salom, Dorys Bellingrodt, and Christian Salom. AnaMaria is survived by her sons, Franklin S. Restrepo (Christy) of Robesonia, PA, and Edgar S. Restrepo (Robin) of Cherry Hill, NJ; daughter-in-law, Kassie Digrugilliers of New Cumberland; grandchildren, Ethan, Adalena, Elizabeth, Ian, Benjamin, and Natalie; sisters, Alicita Valencia, Ilba Salom, Maria Josefina Salom, and Libia Pardey; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30AM on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland, followed by an 11AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa Catholic Church (located directly across the street from the funeral home). At the conclusion of mass, interment will take place in Tri-County Memorial Gardens, Lewisberry.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to AnaMaria’s name to her church: St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
