Anita (Friedman) McFadden

January 14, 1942 — September 26, 2025

Mechanicsburg, PA

Anita (Friedman) McFadden, 83, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Born on January 14, 1942, in the Bronx, NY, she was the daughter of the late Zoltan “Ace” and Lillian (Perlin) Friedman. A graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston, WV, Anita built a career as a certified nursing assistant, retiring from Seidel Memorial Hospital in Mechanicsburg.

As a young mother, she was creative and talented—sewing clothes for her children, reupholstering furniture, and knitting. In the kitchen, she believed you could never add too much garlic. She enjoyed tennis, bingo, and most of all, spending time with her family.

Fiercely independent and determined, Anita overcame a brain aneurysm that required her to relearn how to walk, talk, read, write, and drive—eventually earning her CNA certification afterward. Her motto, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way,” guided her throughout her life. Feisty, stubborn, and completely devoted to her family, Anita will be deeply missed.

Anita’s family would like to thank the Albright LIFE Center for their compassionate care and support over the past year and a half.

She is survived by her children: Douglas (Donna) of Orlando, FL; Steven (Connie) of Clintonville; Todd (Shelley) of Mechanicsburg; Jeffrey of Carlisle; Janet McFadden of Lemoyne; Holly Feltenberger (Jeffery) of Marysville; Jennifer Hoeritz (Thomas) of Gaithersburg, MD; and Corey (Tanya) of Kennerdell, PA. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan McFadden (d. 2013).

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Anita’s name to the Albright LIFE Center.
