Ann Virginia Shults, 81, of Camp Hill, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, after a brief stay at Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center, East Pennsboro Township. She was the daughter of the late Calvin and Lucile (Leiss) Hoerneman, born on March 7, 1943, in Pittsburgh.
A 1961 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, she would go on to pursue a degree in education, obtaining her bachelor’s from Bethany College in West Virginia. She would teach for several years before transitioning to a full-time mom after her kids were born. She and the family would follow her late husband, Bob, as his teaching career took them from Long Island, NY, to Central PA.
Ann eventually went back to work, spending 20+ years with CVS Pharmacy in the cosmetics department—first at the Lemoyne location and then on Carlisle Road in Camp Hill. She enjoyed crafting and was a talented artist, painting in watercolors and building elaborate doll houses from scratch. And just like her husband (a former music teacher), she was musically inclined; she was a skilled pianist and enjoyed singing in the Sweet Adelines, a local vocal group.
Surviving Ann is her son, Robert W. Shults, Jr. of Renton, WA; a brother, Calvin “Cal” Hoerneman (Cheryl) of Midland, MI; daughter in-law, Michelle; and nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. “Bob” Shults; and a son, Matthew C. Shults.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Ann’s name to the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
