Anthony L. "Tony" Natale

February 10, 1932 — October 6, 2021

Anthony L. “Tony” Natale, 89, of New Cumberland and formerly of Harrisburg and Camp Hill, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 in Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle with his loving daughter and daughter-in-law by his side.

He was a retired wholesale greeting cards sales representative for several manufacturers and was formerly, along with his wife, the owner of Natale Card and Party, Lemoyne. Tony was a US Army Korean War veteran, a 1950 Harrisburg Catholic High School graduate, attended and played football for Gettysburg College and was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland.

Tony loved Notre Dame football and the St. Louis Cardinals and was a shortstop with the former Harrisburg Giants of the Negro League. As an incredible athlete, his love of sports led him to coaching freshman football at Trinity High School and youth football and baseball in Wormleysburg. In later years, he still held a competitive edge in backyard games with family and friends.

“Pop” loved his family and the many friends he made over the years. One could always count on his relentless wit and candidness to make you laugh. He especially enjoyed all of his years with his “breakfast buddies”; a different diner for each day of the week.

Tony was born in Harrisburg, the youngest of five boys, to the late Giovanni and Giovanna (Polsoni) Natale. His mother died when he was just three and he was raised by and dearly loved his step-mother, the late Christine (Marcucci) Natale. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of more than 50 years, Anna Shank Natale and his four brothers, Joseph, Albert, Louis and Sebastian “Andy” Natale.

He is survived by his four children, David A. Natale (Birgitta) of Lancaster, Joanna N. Parthemore (Gib) of New Cumberland, Antoinette A. Natale (Christine Fleisher) of Harrisburg and Daniel S. Natale (Steve Hughes) of Mechanicsburg; four grandchildren, Gibby Parthemore, Ingrid Parker (Kyle), Christopher Parthemore (Julianna) and Britt Natale; his great granddaughter Milla Parker; three sisters in law, Rose Natale, Theresa Natale and Janet Shank; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland with the Rev. Kyle Sahd as Celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Twp. A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 pm (sharing at 6:45) on Monday evening in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. All will meet at church on Tuesday morning.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests those who wish to memorialize Tony to PLEASE consider a memorial contribution in his memory to Bishop McDevitt High School Little Flower Scholarship Fund, 1 Crusader Way, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
