Benjamin H. Tylenda, Jr.

August 1, 1944 — August 31, 2025

Camp Hill

Benjamin H. Tylenda, Jr. was 81 years of age when he passed away in his home in Camp Hill on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

A graduate of East Tennessee State University, he had several professional careers before retiring 20 years ago. He began work as a salesman for Double Envelope based in Roanoke, VA. In that role, he spent a few years in Roanoke and a few more in Jacksonville, FL, before moving to Camp Hill in 1970. Later in life, he worked for an inventory management company and real estate closing business.

Ben grew up in the mountains of southwestern Virginia, in the small town of Grundy. He was an Eagle Scout. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors. He was a skilled furniture refinisher, an avid reader, and a lover of two-seater British sports cars. A diehard Green Bay Packers fan, Ben developed an interest in ice hockey when his two grandsons began playing the sport. Most importantly, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

Ben was born August 1, 1944 in Washington, DC to the late Benjamin Henry Tylenda, Sr. and Wanda “Polly” Pauline Tylenda. He was the widower of Mary Lynn Tylenda (Clevinger) who was his high school sweetheart.

He is survived by his sons, Ben Tylenda (Tammy) of Pittsburgh and Rusty Tylenda (Kris) of Camp Hill; his grandsons, Brad Tylenda (Christa Jolin) of Pittsburgh and Matt Tylenda (Emma Hurst) of Grand Rapids, MI; and his brothers-in-law Jim Clevinger (JoAnne) of Louisburg, NC and Ed Marshburn of Doswell, VA.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ben’s memory to Mountain Mission School, Grundy, VA, https://mmskids.org/
