Bertha Margaret Mika (nee Nagy), 96, of Lower Allen Twp, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, died peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Born July 11, 1927 and raised in Fords, NJ, Bertha graduated from Woodbridge Senior High School in 1944.   She married the love of her life, Ralph Mika, in 1951 and together they raised three children in Fords.  Bertha was active in her community as a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend to so many.  Devoted to her family, she loved to cook and bake and share her culinary talents.  Bertha was a life-long learner who enjoyed many types of crafts, reading a great novel, sewing and quilting. She was a working mom for many years before it became popular. Upon retirement, Bertha and Ralph moved to New Cumberland, PA in 1992 to be closer to family living in Pennsylvania and Maryland.  A parishioner at Saint Theresa Parish for over 30 years, she was a strong woman who lived her faith. She loved America and was proud of her heritage as a second-generation immigrant from Hungary.

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph A and Bertha (Borsody) Nagy; her beloved husband, Ralph A Mika in 2020, and beloved son, Mark A Mika in 2023; sister Marie Wilt and brothers Joseph Nagy and Lester Nagy.  

She is survived by her daughters, Marissa J. Shollenberger and husband Timothy of Mechanicsburg, PA; and Melanie R. Mason and husband Scott of Williamsburg, VA; four grandchildren Ryan Shollenberger of New York City, NY; Jess Shollenberger of Philadelphia, PA; Kayla Baker of Houston, TX; Nicholas Mason of Williamsburg, VA and many loved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10am on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Parthemore Funeral Home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am at Saint Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland with Fr.  Jonathan P. Sawicki as celebrant.  She will be buried alongside her beloved Ralph at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.

Bertha’s memory may be honored by contributions to Saint Theresa Parish, 1300 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070 or to a charity of your choosing.
