Beverly (Beckley) Spatz, 85, of New Cumberland, PA, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 in Miami Gardens, FL, where she had spent her final years living with family. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Roberta (Prowell) Beckley, born on February 2, 1936 in Harrisburg, PA.
Bev was a 1954 graduate of the former New Cumberland High School, and although she would move out of state a couple of times throughout life, she remained in Central PA for most of her years. She attended Penn State University, where she would meet the love of her life, Neal J. Spatz. The two were married and they had four children together. Bev loved to entertain, host parties and play bridge, and she and Neal both had a passion for traveling. The two were Penn State football ticket holders for decades, and the spread she would prepare for tailgates would blow your mind. She was also a golfer, belonging to the West Shore Country Club for many years. She was famous for the family dinners she’d prepare each Sunday, and her grandchildren always made her light up.
Bev leaves behind two daughters, Sheri L. Ash (Wesley) of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Laurie Spatz Roca of Miami Gardens, FL; grandchildren, Terrilynn, Becky Quintangeli and Kevin Cantwell, Joshua Ash, Noelle Valentine, and Alex Roca; seven great-grandchildren; a nephew, Ryan Herchenroether; and a son-in-law, Kenneth Cantwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neal J. Spatz; a son, Gilbert B. Spatz; daughter, Cindi M. Cantwell; a brother, Gilbarry Beckley; and a sister, Sherry K. Herchenroether.
Services will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at the mausoleum in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
