Caroline J. Brown, 87, of Upper Allen Twp., Mechanicsburg, died Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center, East Pennsboro Twp.

Caroline, lovingly nicknamed “Bebe,” was first and foremost the best wife, mother, Nana and Great Nana, and is greatly missed by her family and friends.  She was known for her cooking, baking, entertaining, love of flowers and birds, dried flower arrangements, and endless hours of volunteering at Holy Spirit Hospital, organizing funeral luncheons and participating in the Women’s Bible Study group at church, and running pre-school programs.  She loved long car rides with her husband, attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities, and helping anyone in need.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Mechanicsburg, Gettysburg and Hershey Region Car Clubs, the Mechanicsburg Museum; retired as a dental assistant for the former Kenneth Worley, DDS, Camp Hill; and a former Avon Rep.

Born in Harrisburg, PA, on June 21, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Elsie J. (Dare) Bowers.  Caroline was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Gene Bowers, Roger Bowers and Janet Nelson.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 68 years, Winslow R. Brown II; her son and daughters, Thomas K. Brown (Joan) of Newtown, Tammie J. Mauck of The Villages, FL, and Teresa J. Lawrence of Charleston, SC;  7 grandchildren,  Jonathan and Kevin Brown, Kathryn Moore, Jacob Mauck, Megan Forsyth, Sara Schriver, and Ryan Lawrence; and 2 great grandsons, Kobe and Kace Brown; sister Barbara Wagner (James) of Weatherly,  and brother Jerome Bowers of NY; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, 135 W Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Dr. Dennis R. Keller officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.  Following the graveside service, a luncheon will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to First United Methodist Church, 135 W. Simpson Street, Mechanicsburg 17055.
