Catherine "Cathy" Patricia Smith

Catherine “Cathy” Patricia Smith, 73, of York Haven, PA, peacefully departed from this life on March 20, 2026, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Born on November 2, 1952, in Carlisle, PA, Cathy was the cherished daughter of Robert A. and Catherine (Zerbe) Berg. She was a proud 1972 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School and dedicated many years to her work as a Private House Cleaner, touching the lives of countless families with her kindness and attention to detail. 

Cathy was known for her warm heart and vibrant spirit. She found joy in sewing, painting, and nurturing her garden, activities that brought her peace and fulfillment. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother. Cathy is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Richard Lee Smith; her two daughters, Jennifer Marie Smith of Falling Waters, WV, and Christin L. Smith of Abbottstown; and her beloved grandchildren, Kyle J. Turk of Falling Waters, WV, Megan E. Turk of Cleveland, OH, and her best friend and caregiver, Katelynn Marie Smith. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, along with her long-time companion and true friend, Chris Snell Douglas of Ephrata. Cathy was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Berg.

A public memorial service honoring Cathy’s life will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Following the memorial, Cathy will be laid to rest in a private interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp. She was the wife, daughter, and sister of veterans. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, a cause Cathy deeply cared about. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy of love and kindness will be carried forward by all who were blessed to know her.
