Charles R. "Charlie" Ruhl, 69, of Camp Hill, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill. Born on September 18, 1956, in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Charles and Frances (Benoit) Ruhl.
Charlie grew up in Harrisburg and proudly graduated from Central Dauphin East High School in 1974. He furthered his education at Penn State University, earning his degree in 1979, and later pursued an MBA at Monmouth University in New Jersey. A dedicated professional, he became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and opened his own practice, focusing on nonprofits—reflecting his deep commitment to giving back to the community.
In addition to his career in accounting, Charlie served as a Major in the U.S. Army, mobilizing upwards of 10,000 troops during Desert Storm. His service extended to various roles at Fort Indiantown Gap and the Army Reserve Command in Philadelphia, showcasing his dedication to his country. Charlie was not just a professional and a veteran; he was also a passionate musician. He enjoyed playing bass in church praise bands and various rock bands throughout the Harrisburg area, bringing joy and inspiration to many. His warm spirit and talent will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne (Boswell) Ruhl, his sons, Christian and Cameron Ruhl, and his daughter, Eleanor (Matthew Giovinco) Ruhl. Charlie also leaves behind his sisters, Mary Ruhl and Nicole (Alfred) Fichera, as well as his cherished in-laws, William (Rochelle) Boswell, Jeffrey (Sandra) Boswell, Nancy (Walter) Harmon, and Joan (Larry) Schwartz. In addition, he will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends in the Camp Hill community.
A visitation will take place at Parthemore Funeral Home on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10 AM, with the Celebration of Life to follow at 11AM. Interment will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Life, https://www.donors1.org/ or to a charity of your choice, supporting the causes that were dear to Charlie’s heart.
