Christopher L. Mercurio

February 2, 1960 — December 30, 2025

New Cumberland, PA

Christopher Lee Mercurio, 65, of New Cumberland, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Born on Groundhog Day, 1960, he was the son of the late S. Frank Mercurio and Mary E. (Clipp) Mercurio Snyder.

Chris would remain in Central PA all his life. He was a standout pitcher for New Cumberland little league baseball in his youth and would go on to graduate from Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill. You could say he was born into the restaurant business, getting his start at Costy’s—his dad’s pizza and spaghetti house located on the Carlisle Pike. More recently, and for most of his working years, he worked for Al’s Pizza & Subs in Carlisle.

He belonged to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lemoyne, where he attended with his family. Chris shared an especially close bond with his mother; stepping up in her later years as her health declined. Whether caring for her or simply spending time together, they found joy in rooting for the Phillies, Eagles, and Penn State football whenever they played. A walking encyclopedia of sports knowledge, Chris could rattle off statistics with ease and also avidly followed horse racing.

Quiet by nature, Chris had a dry wit and impeccable timing—always knowing just when to deliver a perfectly placed zinger that would leave everyone laughing. He was deeply loved by his children and grandson, and while they will miss him tremendously, they remain grateful for the time they were blessed to share with him.

Surviving Chris are his children, Jennifer E. Mercurio Doran (husband, Michael) of New Cumberland and Christopher L. Mercurio II of Millersburg; a grandson, Christopher M. Doran; a sister-in-law, Martha Mercurio (husband, Jack); and the mother of his children, Marcia Mercurio, and her son, Zachary A. Ream. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank E. Mercurio.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4-6PM on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. All are invited to dress casually—with Philadelphia sports gear encouraged—for a time to remember Chris’s life with friends and family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Chris’s name to Gaudenzia Addiction Treatment & Recovery Services.
