Harrisburg

Colonel Kim C. Leach (Retired), 71, of Harrisburg, PA, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side, May 26, 2026. Born on January 14, 1955, in Sewickley, he was the son of the late John and Helen (Palka) Leach.

Kim was raised in western Pennsylvania where he was a 1973 graduate of Ambridge High School. He continued his education at Penn State before earning his BA from Robert Morris University. Kim began his military career in 1977 and faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army for nearly three decades. During that time, he was stationed everywhere from Hawaii to Alaska. He would earn his MBA from Central Michigan University and served in a variety of military leadership roles throughout his career. He especially enjoyed his time at the Army War College in Carlisle and the Pentagon, from which he’d retire with the rank of Colonel.

Following retirement from the military, Kim continued working. He spent time with a handful of firms, including Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC), and IBM, before fully retiring in 2024.

Kim enjoyed hunting, fishing, Pittsburgh sports, and Penn State athletics. In the early 2000s, he and his wife, Marianne, would settle in Fairview Township, where they’d become parishioners of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland.

His outgoing and gregarious personality was evident in all he did. Well-respected by those who knew him, Kim valued the relationships he’d built throughout life.

Above all, he was devoted to his family, providing steadfast care, guidance, and unwavering support, always ensuring they were well cared for. Kim took great pride in coaching and supporting his daughter throughout her softball career, and he followed his son’s theatrical pursuits from Pittsburgh to New York with great admiration, encouraging him as he embraced expanding opportunities in acting and writing. His life was defined by a deep commitment to his family’s well-being, paired with a spirited humor that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Shortly after retirement, in late 2024, Kim was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He battled his illness with strength and determination—in the same way he’d face all of life’s challenges. A loving husband, father, and friend, his presence will be deeply missed.

Surviving Kim is his wife of 48 years, Marianne (Segeleon) Leach; a daughter, Diana Stumpf (Matthew); siblings, Marlene Gandjos (William), Patricia Dengel (Sam), Ken Leach (Susan), and Janet Davis; sisters and brother-in-law, Donna (Segeleon) Matthews, Edward and Elaine Segeleon; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son in 2025, Brian Edward Leach; a brother and his wife, Michael and Julie Leach; and a brother-in-law, William Davis.

Committal will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Township.
