Cynthia "Cindy" Canzoneri

October 1, 1953 — May 1, 2025

Lewisberry, PA

Cynthia J. Canzoneri, 71, of Lewisberry, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, in the comfort of her home. Born on October 1, 1953, in Big Creek, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dawson and Catherine (Koch) Smith of Slatington, PA.

Cynthia was a graduate of Slatington High School and Lehigh County Community College (LCCC). She dedicated her early career to LCCC until her marriage in 1976, when she and her husband relocated to the Harrisburg area. She went on to serve the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, working at the Liquor Control Board’s Office of Chief Counsel before continuing her career with the Department of Corrections as an Administrative Officer, where she remained until her retirement in 2014.

Above all, Cynthia cherished her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 49 years, Anthony Canzoneri, and her loving sons, Matthew A. Canzoneri (Jessica) of Goldsboro, PA, and David B. Canzoneri (Michelle) of Mechanicsburg, PA. She adored every moment spent with her four grandchildren—Nolan, Carley, Anastasia, and Amos—who brought immense joy to her life. Cynthia also leaves behind her dear siblings: Sandy Fredrick of Tatamy, PA, Kriss Lendvay of Jacksonville, FL, and Barrie Smith of Salisbury, MD.

Cynthia had a passion for sports, cheering on her favorite teams—the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, Penn State football, and Pitt basketball—with enthusiasm. For many years, she accompanied her husband to Notre Dame football games, sharing in the excitement. She also loved horse racing, a passion she inherited from her father, who trained and raced Standardbreds.

Beyond sports, Cynthia found peace in simple pleasures. She enjoyed spending time on her outdoor patio, listening to the soothing sounds of the waterfall, playing solitaire, and tackling crossword puzzles. A devout Catholic, she was a dedicated member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. She also loved her time as a snowbird, retreating with her husband to Tarpon Springs, FL, where she formed lasting friendships within her 55+ community.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Friends and family are invited to a visitation from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM that morning at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services—located directly across from the church. Interment will take place immediately following mass at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Following the burial, Cindy’s family warmly welcomes all to a Celebration of Life at the Linglestown Historic Venue (5901 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
