Darren Wayne Dunlap

March 18, 1954 — April 1, 2026

New Cumberland, PA

Darren Wayne Dunlap, 72, of New Cumberland, PA, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. Born March 18, 1954, in York, he was the son of the late Donald F. and Doris M. (Samson) Dunlap.

Darren was a graduate of York County Vo-Tech and went on to dedicate 35 years of his career to ComputerAid. A man of deep faith, he was a devoted member of First Church of God in New Cumberland for 38 years, where he served in many roles and remained actively involved in the life of the church.

Above all, Darren was a family man. He shared 47 loving years of marriage with his wife, Patsy, and took great pride in his daughters, Kimberly and Jennifer. He was a constant presence in their lives, faithfully supporting their school and community activities. His love extended beyond his human family, as he will be greatly missed by his loyal feline companions—Scout, Henry, and Winnie.

Darren had a gift for connecting with others, and through his involvement in youth and community organizations, he became a mentor and father figure to many. He served as Registrar for the Girl Scout E-8 Service Unit, coached with the West Shore Soccer Association, and held multiple roles—including coach, treasurer, and registrar—with the Highland Girls Softball Association. He also volunteered his time as a videographer for the Cedar Cliff Marching Band. In many ways, he leaves behind hundreds of “adopted children” whose lives he helped shape.

Darren will be remembered for his dedication and service to others, and his appreciation for the simpler things in life—especially sitting on his back deck, watching deer wander through the yard, or perhaps delivering an especially corny and well-timed “dad joke.” His family takes comfort in knowing he’s at peace.

Surviving Darren is his wife and best friend, Patsy (Roche) Dunlap; daughters, Kimberly Dunlap of New Cumberland and Jennifer Dunlap (Ben Seagraves) of Harrisburg; sisters, Donna Kreeger of Mt. Joy, Deanna Protheroe (Dick) of York, and Deborah Miller (Brad) of Fredericksburg; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A public visitation will be held from 6-8PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at New Cumberland First Church of God. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11AM the following morning, Wednesday, April 8, in the church. All are invited to join the family immediately after services for a fellowship luncheon in the church’s social hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Blessing Box Food Pantry at First Church of God, 323 Reno Avenue, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
