David Alan Sowers

David Alan Sowers, 65, of New Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 in his residence.

He was a retired quality control agent with Carlisle Syntec, Carlisle and a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University. David was a member of American Legion Post 143 and VFW Post 7415, both of New Cumberland; and James A. Danner VFW Post 537, Etters. He was a gemology hobbyist who loved collecting and sharing his finds with others. He enjoyed cross word puzzles, reading, music, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.

David was born in Altoona, PA to Barbara L. (Gaboardi) Sowers of Camp Hill and the late Richard L. Sowers, Sr.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter Carrie Jo Sowers; siblings, Richard L. Sowers, Jr. of North Wales, PA, Sheryl L. Balke of Grand Junction, CO, Robert L. Sowers of Hummelstown and Lisa M. Metz of Hummelstown; as well as nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in Hummelstown Cemetery. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually and are required to wear masks and practice social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully encourages memorial contributions in David’s memory to either the American Legion or VFW of their choice.
