Donald C. Spangler

February 16, 1935 — April 16, 2026

Mechanicsburg

Don (Mouse) C. Spangler, age 91, of Mechanicsburg, passed away peacefully in his home on April 16, 2026. He was in the presence of his family and now is in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Don was a long-time member of Silver Spring Presbyterian Church in Mechanicsburg, PA.

Don is preceded in death by his dear wife, Ann, who passed away in 2017; parents, George S. Spangler and Pearl Wrightstone Kogan; two brothers, Kenneth (Moose) Spangler and Jay Spangler; and one sister, Carol Fernbaugh.

He is survived by his sister, Kay Rittenhouse; four children, Terry Jackson (husband Jerry) of Illinois; James Stubbs (wife Lori) of Lewisberry; Donna Sholly of Lewisberry; and Dawn Hoskin (husband Stan) of Annville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, (Jimmy, Paul, Dana, Brianna, Angie, Nathan, Peyton) and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Don retired from IBM in Mechanicsburg after many years of dedicated employment. He also was famous for his ethical and reasonably priced garage door business. Even at the age of eighty-eight, he was still getting calls to repair people's garage doors.

Don loved spending time with his family. Beginning in infancy, every grandchild and great-grandchild became content in his quiet and loving presence.

Don enjoyed golfing and in his earlier years, he loved his weekly bowling nights in the IBM bowling league. He was a member of The Men's Club of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania for over sixty years.

Don is known as a man of great integrity, having a wonderful sense of humor and an unconditional love for his family. Nobody demonstrated the fullness of love better than he, when he lovingly cared for his wife who had dementia. He was eager to be reunited with her in heaven.

Don was a fantastic, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Services will be held at Silver Spring Presbyterian Church on Thursday, May 7 at 2:00pm. Located at 444 Silver Spring Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association. Don supported dementia research in honor of Ann, who had Lewy Body Dementia.
