Eleanor Balliet

Apr 1, 1933 — Oct 9, 2026

Camp Hill

Eleanor Mae Balliet, 93, of Camp Hill, PA, and formerly of Bath, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2026. Born on April 1, 1933, in Slatedale, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Ada (Schnable) Snyder.

Growing up in Lehigh County, Eleanor met her husband, Bob, at a young age. The two married on April 16, 1950, and began building a life and family together. While Bob worked as a carpenter, Eleanor devoted her early years to raising their children. She later entered the workforce as a seamstress and became a member of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union (ILGWU). She also spent several years working for Crossmark, where she could often be found at local stores preparing food and offering samples to shoppers.

Eleanor and Bob were true partners in life, sharing a love of travel and the friendships they made along the way. For many years, they spent their winters in Florida, traveling by RV alongside a close-knit group of friends. They also enjoyed their regular weekly coffee gatherings with friends. Eleanor was easygoing and good-natured, rarely having an unkind word to say about anyone.

Blessed with an extraordinary memory, Eleanor could recall the smallest details of their travels, from the roads they took to the places they stopped along the way. She remained remarkably sharp and perceptive throughout her life, and she wasn't one to shy away from technology. Whether using her phone, computer, or social media, she enjoyed keeping up with family and friends and staying connected to the world around her.

As a mother, Eleanor was loving and devoted, but she also believed in teaching her children responsibility and independence. She encouraged them to stand on their own two feet, offering guidance and support while allowing them to make their own choices.

In 2023, Eleanor and Bob moved to The Woods in Camp Hill to be closer to family. They quickly made new friends and enjoyed the companionship and community around them.

Throughout her life, Eleanor valued family, friendship, and the simple pleasure of spending time with those she loved.

Surviving Eleanor are her children, Robert Balliet, Jr. (Swanya) of Thailand, Ken Balliet (Judy) of Turbotville, PA, Louise Gross (Jeff) of Virginia Beach, VA, Steve Balliet (Michele) of Hershey, PA, and Craig Balliet Sr. (Susan) of of Saint Augustine, FL; grandchildren, Robert M. Balliet, Rebecca Balliet, Christy Fry, Amanda Balliet, Eric Gross, Brittany Farley, Peyton Balliet, Craig Balliet, Jr., and Madeline Via; great-grandchildren, Alexa, Ian, Trevor, Emma, Liam, Owen, Leah, Coen, Gavin, Nolan and Colton; and a niece, Mary Lou Miller (Shaun). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Robert R. Balliet, Sr. (d. 2024); and siblings, Paul Snyder (Evelyn), Florence Beisel (William) and Irene Kepp (Ralph).

A private interment for both Eleanor and Bob will take place this fall in Slatedale Cemetery, Slatington.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Eleanor’s name to Compassus Hospice’s Living Foundation.
