Ellen Staudt

Ellen Staudt, 100, of Paxtang, passed away peacefully at home on September 30, 2024. She was born in Harrisburg on November 10, 1923 to the late Samuel R. and Matilda E. Hull. Her fondest childhood memories were of time spent in the kitchen with her grandmother, who inspired her love of cooking and baking. After high school, she married Donald Cole and they made a home together with their daughter Debbie until his death in 1966.

She found love and companionship again with Clinton Staudt who she married in 1967. Ellen and Clint spent 54 years together and enjoyed entertaining friends, playing cards, traveling, shopping at local farmers markets, attending Calvary United Methodist Church, spending time with family, and doting on their granddaughters.

Ellen enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and often packed up meals for relatives, friends, and church members. She was a selfless provider, always willing to give to others, volunteering even in her 90s at Homeland Center and at her church.

After Clint passed away in 2021, despite her decreased physical ability, she still found ways to have “a little more fun” by going to markets, getting her hair done, and going out to eat. She was able to spend her last years at home thanks to several wonderful caregivers and enjoyed fun outings, sharing stories, and helping make her favorite recipes with her granddaughter. She was thrilled to reach 100 years old and receive her birthday letter from the President.

In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by her brother, Samuel R. Hull Jr. and his wife Beverly.

Her warm, kind, loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her and will live on through her daughter Deborah Juliana and her husband Anthony, of New Cumberland; her granddaughters, Allison and Rachel (and husband Phillip); and her great-granddaughter, Lily.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 17 at 1:30pm at Calvary United Methodist Church, 4700 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109. Memorial contributions can be made to the church, or to a charity of your choice.
