Emily Joy Meidlinger

Emily Joy Meidlinger, 34, of Camp Hill, PA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 20, 2026. She was born on January 11, 1992 in Harrisburg, PA.

Emily was the daughter of Deborah (Kenney) and Scott Meidlinger, Camp Hill, PA.

Emily was baptized at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill and confirmed at St John’s Lutheran Church, Shiremanstown, PA.

She graduated from Cedar Cliff High School, Camp Hill and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies from Penn State University, Harrisburg. Following her college graduation, Emily worked for Allstate Insurance for several years before moving to Progressive Insurance where she was a Claims Specialist Intermediate until her death. She was well respected by colleagues in both businesses.

Emily was a dedicated community volunteer and advocate who was known for her kindness and philanthropic efforts. She was especially focused on helping other gynecological cancer patients, primarily through Kelly’s Angels at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, by crocheting and donating handmade hats and blankets for Cancer Wellness Bags. Over the past few years Emily made and donated more than 100 hats. In addition, she crocheted more than 70 lap blankets that were also distributed to newly diagnosed cancer patients.

Throughout her own illness Emily served as a mentor to other cancer patients, answering questions and relating her experiences in an attempt to reduce another patient’s anxiety. Her own positive attitude was an inspiration to many others. On June 7, 2026 Emily was awarded by Johns Hopkins Medicine one of its highest volunteer honors, the Stride and Thrive Survivor Impact and Advocacy Award. This award is given to an individual who has been a leader in the community promoting education and awareness for all gynecological cancers. The individual getting the award is known to demonstrate the characteristics of kindness, selflessness, advocacy, and awareness and who has a passion for helping and educating survivors, as well as caregivers.

In Emily’s earlier days, she played fast pitch for local and travel softball teams, as well as spent four years on the Cedar Cliff High School Varsity Softball team as a pitcher. Emily also played soccer and was a Girl Scout while growing up.

Surviving Emily are her mother, Deborah and her father, Scott Meidlinger, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins around the country. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Margaret Kenney and Robert Kenney and Inie Meidlinger and Edward Meidlinger, as well as a cousin Joseph Meidlinger.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
