Gerald F. Welch, Sr., 81, of New Cumberland, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He retired as a metal fabricator for Hershocks, Harrisburg, and enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a Dallas Cowboys fan. Jerry was a very devoted family man and loved spending time with his family. He loved being outdoors and took great pride in and enjoyed his swimming pool and working outside at home.
Born on February 1, 1940, in Westfield, he was the son of the late Alfred S. and Opal (Carlin) Welch. He was also preceded in death by brothers, James and Michael, and sisters, Vickie Snyder, Cathy Perry and Penny Miller.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Sandra A. (McAfee) Welch; son, Gerald F. Jr. of New Cumberland; two daughters and their husbands, Patti J. Diodato and David, of Loysville, and Kimberly A. and Donnie Murlatt Jr. of Dillsburg; thirteen grandchildren, Jessica, Michael and Taylor Welch, Nicholas, Brandon and Andrew Diodato, Aidan Burnett, Cheyenne, Dakota, Bryson, Gavin, Mckenzie and Sierra Murlatt; a brother, Alfred Welch, Jr. of Duncannon; a sister, Sharon Tombs of Westfield; many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Lower Paxton Twp.
Visitation will be held 10 – 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
