Harry M. Books, Jr., 93, of Etters passed away on November 3, 2024, in York, PA. He was born on July 17, 1931, in Harrisburg, PA to the late Harry M. Books, Sr. and Thelma (Mace) Books. Harry was a 1949 graduate of the former New Cumberland High School and proudly served during the Korean War in the Army Signal Corp. He was an accomplished Electronic Manufacturing Engineer in the high-voltage electronics industry, working at Industrial Harness Company before his retirement. Known for his love of amateur HAM radio operations and his call letters W3PSU, Harry began developing these skills at the age of 16 and nurtured them throughout his life. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed the outdoor life. Harry was an active member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in York Haven, where he taught Adult Sunday Education and held several volunteer staff positions.
Harry is survived by his son, Timothy Books; a longtime friend, Mary Barker; one granddaughter, Nattasha; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, June Books; two nieces, Annette and Kathy; and two nephews, Keith and Barry. He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife, Sally (Hopkins) Books; his brother, Carl Books; his sister, Betty Bonsell and a niece, Kim.
A visitation will be held at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 850 Pleasant Grove Rd, York Haven, PA 17370 on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 10 - 11 AM with a memorial service to follow. Burial will take place at Rolling Green Cemetery in Camp Hill at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
