Harry "Butch" Carroll

November 10, 1946 — April 11, 2025

Lewisberry, PA

Harry “Butch” Robert John Carroll, 78, of Lewisberry, passed peacefully at home after a lengthy illness, on Friday, April 11, 2025, with his beloved family by his side. Butch was born on November 10, 1946, in San Francisco, CA, to the late Harry Carroll and Roberta (Fleming) Carroll. Butch had a personality that was bigger than life itself. He had a zest for living and enjoyed a life full of adventures, love, and lots of laughter. He was a proud 1967 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School and earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Harrisburg Area Community College.

Butch is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Doris (Scruggs) Carroll, and loving daughter Cameron Chelsea Carroll. Also, his sisters Melanie A. Calenda (Pat) of Portland, OR, and Michelle Carroll of New Cumberland, PA, and brother Tim Swan (Sandra) of Osceola, PA. Brother-in-law Rick Sellars, nieces Scarlette Carroll, Tory O’Neil (Caleb), Shelby Swan, and nephews Joel Swan and Larry Penyak (Caroline). He was pre-deceased by his parents, his sisters, Denise Sellars and Patricia Carroll, and brother Larry Carroll.

Butch was an extremely talented woodworker and crafted many beautiful pieces of furniture. His career spanned from sales to construction. He was an entrepreneur and owned Eskil’s Clog Shop and then the Picadeli Circus delicatessen in Strawberry Square, both in downtown Harrisburg, PA. He then moved on to his passion in life, construction. He was the Director of Facilities at Hanover Hospital, Hanover, PA and lastly, Construction Project Manager at Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA.

Butch also wanted to recognize his “extended” family, who meant so much and were always there for him. With gratitude and love to James Diebold, Ann Evertts Moran, Becky Diebold, Christy Diebold, and the Batcha family (Diane, John, Hannah, and Johnny).

Please join Butch's family from 1-4PM on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at the Camp Hill Borough Community Room (Prosser Hall), for an open-house style Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Suite 270, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
